Dictate the letter once. Get it back ready to review and send.

Verbato writes a formal letter from your dictation. A formal letter is one sent on the firm's letterhead to a client, the other side or a court: the recipient and reference, the body, the closing and the signature.

For lawyers who dictate their correspondence.

How your formal letter is written

  • The letter is set out in clean paragraphs, in a formal register.

  • Amounts and dates keep the figures you dictated, never changed or rounded.

  • Instructions to a typist, such as “in capitals” or “underline that”, are not typed into the letter. Check that they were carried out before it goes.

  • The word-for-word transcript sits beside the letter, so you can check every figure.

Your format, not ours

The sections of your formal letter and the way it is written are yours to change. To fix a document, say what is wrong in your own words.

  1. 1You correct it

“Write dates in full, like 4 August 2026.”

That formal letter changes. Nothing else does.

  2. 2You say it again

Make the same correction on a later formal letter and Verbato asks: “You've changed this before. Always?”

  3. 3You decide

Answer “Always” and it is kept as a rule, applied from your next formal letter on. Answer “Just this once” and nothing is kept. Documents already written stay as they are, and nothing becomes a rule unless you confirm it.

  4. 4Your rules

I write dates with the month in words.Undo

Every rule you have kept is listed, and you can undo any of them. An undone rule stops applying from your next formal letter.

How it works

Upload a file, paste a link, record in your browser, or send a voice note by Telegram or email. Verbato makes a word-for-word transcript, which you can edit and which stays beside the document. Your formal letter is written from it, in minutes.

Recording limits

A recording made in your browser can run up to 30 min on every plan; a longer session goes in as a file you upload. A free account takes recordings of up to 40 min each; for longer ones, see pricing.

Your recording

Deleted after 7 days by default, together with its transcript and documents. You can keep a project longer, up to your plan's limit. Deleting a recording leaves a receipt you can download. Nothing you record is used to train or improve AI models.

Questions about the formal letter

What if I don't dictate a closing?
The letter closes with a neutral formal ending, and your name if you said it. Dictate your own closing and that is the one that appears.
How do I fill the placeholder the letter leaves?
The placeholder marks the spot and names what you asked for. Verbato does not have your standard clauses, so put the text in before the letter goes. Nothing is invented in its place.
Does Verbato draft the legal content of the letter?
No. The dictation defines the content. Verbato sets what you said into paragraphs, applies your commands and corrections, and adds nothing: no argument, no clause, no citation.
Does it add the date, an address or my letterhead?
Only what you dictate. The recipient, an address and the reference line appear when you say them, and anything you did not dictate is left out. Your letterhead is added where you send the letter from.

Dictate your next letter. Check it against the transcript. Send it.
