How it works
Upload a file, paste a link, record in your browser, or send a voice note by Telegram or email. Verbato makes a word-for-word transcript, which you can edit and which stays beside your documents. They are written from it, in minutes.
Recording limits
A recording made in your browser can run up to 30 min on every plan; a longer session goes in as a file you upload. A free account takes recordings of up to 40 min each; for longer ones, see pricing.
Your recording
Deleted after 7 days by default, together with its transcript and documents. You can keep a project longer, up to your plan's limit. Deleting a recording leaves a receipt you can download. Questions before you start
- Which recordings can I get subtitles from?
- Verbato gives you subtitles from any recording you send, audio or video. Every transcript exports as Subtitles, an .srt file, or as Web subtitles, a .vtt file, and exports are not counted against your hours.
- How do I get captions a few words at a time?
- In Verbato, file the recording under Social Captions, a kind of recording you can add free when you send it. Its transcript is timed to each word, and the export then offers two shapes: Whole sentences, and A few words at a time.
- Does Verbato put the subtitles on the video?
- No: Verbato gives you the subtitles file, and your video editor or your player puts it on the picture. Verbato does not edit or export video.
- Can I fix the subtitles before I download them?
- Yes, by correcting the transcript in Verbato first: edit a line, or find and replace a word through the whole of it. The subtitles are made from the corrected text.
- Can I get subtitles in a language other than the one spoken?
- No: the subtitles are in the language of the recording, and Verbato does not translate them.
- Do I pay per video or per file?
- Neither: with Verbato, you pay for hours of audio. Documents, corrections and exports are not counted, and signing up is free. The plans are on the pricing page.
